Over the past several years our award system for our large national events has recognized both the contributions made to the event’s organization as well as for actions during the event. Awards are given out at the discretion of the Battalion commander to those who demonstrate dedication, effort, hard work, and foster a sense of community and high standards within the reenacting hobby. – BootSpoon

MIKE ELLIS

In acknowledgment of unparalleled leadership, unwavering dedication, and extraordinary contributions to the defense of the Motherland, Battalion Commander Mike Ellis is awarded the Order of Alexander Nevsky. He epitomizes the pinnacle of leadership excellence, his steadfast guidance and resolute command have been instrumental in guiding our unit through the crucible of war, ensuring our survival and success in the face of formidable adversaries.

Under his astute leadership, Kombat Ellis has set a new standard of excellence among our ranks, inspiring his comrades to strive for greatness. His strategic foresight and tactical acumen were pivotal in securing decisive Soviet victories during critical engagements at Rzhev, Kursk, and Targu Frumos, helping turning the tide of battle in our favor.

Moreover, his mentorship and guidance have elevated many of his peers to become exceptional leaders in their own right, contributing to the overall strength and effectiveness of our forces. Mike Ellis commands the respect and admiration of all Soviet comrades he has encountered throughout his illustrious tenure of service. His selfless devotion to duty, unwavering resolve, and steadfast leadership embody the highest ideals of the Red Army.

IAN RICHARDSON

Senior Sergeant Richardson, with unwavering determination and tactical acumen, led a reconnaissance mission deep into enemy territory. Despite facing formidable challenges and grave risks, his resolute command ensured the success of the mission, culminating in the acquisition of vital intelligence crucial for planning future assaults on enemy positions.

Through his astute leadership and planning, Senior Sergeant Richardson achieved the objective with remarkable efficiency, ensuring the safety and well-being of his comrades. Notably, his strategic maneuvers resulted in zero friendly casualties, a testament to his exceptional skill and dedication to the welfare of his fellow soldiers.

In recognition of his outstanding contributions to the defense of the Motherland, Senior Sergeant Ian Richardson is hereby awarded For Battle Merit, conferred with the utmost honor on this day, May 1, 1942.

VLADIMIR RUZHNIKOV

Company Starshina Ruzhnikov’s outstanding contributions extend beyond the battlefield. His visionary leadership and steadfast commitment to excellence were instrumental in the creation and management of our Non-Commissioned Officer (NCO) course. Through his tireless efforts, he cultivated a formidable NCO core, vital for the success of battalion operations during the Rzhev Campaign in April 1942.

In the crucible of combat, Starshina Ruzhnikov demonstrated unparalleled courage and tactical acumen. As acting company starshina, he played a pivotal role in orchestrating a dawn assault alongside his company commander, Sasha Rusinek. Through swift and decisive action, they led our forces to victory, utterly decimating the enemy company in a mere seven minutes.

For his exceptional contributions to the defense of the Motherland and his gallant actions on the battlefield, Starshina Vladimir Ruzhnikov is hereby awarded For Battle Merit.

NEWT BROWN

During the intense engagements of the Rzhev Campaign, Signalman Brown exhibited exemplary skill and dedication in establishing and maintaining vital communication logistics between battalion and company headquarters. His proficient use of radio equipment and field phones facilitated seamless coordination and command dissemination, ensuring our unit remained agile and responsive amidst the chaos of battle.

Signalman Brown’s meticulous attention to detail and tireless efforts were instrumental in enabling our forces to outmaneuver and decisively defeat the enemy on multiple assaults conducted on May 1, 1942. His adept handling of communications allowed for swift and coordinated actions, ultimately leading to the destruction of enemy positions and the preservation of our unit’s combat effectiveness.

For his extraordinary valor and meritorious service in the face of adversity, Signalman Newt Brown is hereby awarded For Bravery.

ETHAN TOYE

During the intense battles near Rzhev on May 1, 1942, Sergeant Toye demonstrated exceptional courage and unwavering resolve in the face of the enemy. In a daring display of valor, he and Krasnoarmeyets James Huerta engaged an enemy halftrack in close combat, armed with a satchel charge.

With fearless determination and selfless sacrifice, Sergeant Toye and Krasnoarmeyets Huerta successfully neutralized the enemy threat, destroying the halftrack and halting its advance. Their courageous actions not only protected our forces but also turned the tide of battle in our favor, helping our forces overwhelm the enemy.

For his outstanding contributions to the defense of the Motherland and his exemplary conduct in combat, Sergeant Ethan Toye is hereby honored with the esteemed For Battle Merits. His gallant deeds on the battlefield serve as a shining example of the indomitable spirit and unwavering determination of the Soviet soldier.

ANDREI OKTYABRSKII

For his merits in procuring an ample supply of grenades and equipment to resist fascist tanks, and for leading the infantry platoon under exceptional circumstances in direct combat with the enemy, Andrei Oktyabrskii is awarded the Order of the Patriotic War. His courage and organizational skills proved crucial during the battles.

Oktyabrskii showed great dedication in ensuring the availability of ammunition and equipment necessary to counter the enemy tanks. His strong determination and leadership abilities played a key role in achieving superiority in the battles, where he effectively commanded the infantry platoon and achieved remarkable combat results.

For his outstanding merits and unparalleled service to the Motherland, he is awarded the Order of the Patriotic War.

TYLER BRUSSEAU

Based on undeniable merits to the Motherland and comrades in arms, and in light of outstanding achievements in the role of Battalion Starshina, Tyler Brusseau is awarded the Order of the Red Star. Starshina Brusseau inspired others with his example and consistently provided organizational support to his comrades, contributing to the smooth functioning of the battalion and strengthening the combat spirit.

Starshina Brusseau diligently worked on conducting a course for the battalion sergeants, resulting in significant improvement in training outcomes compared to the previous year, which had already been noted for its high quality. He ensured the battalion had all the necessary resources and professionally handled budget matters, allowing the combat unit to focus on fulfilling their direct duties.

For all his merits and exemplary service to the Motherland, I proudly bestow upon him the Order of the Red Star.

YURI MIRONOV

Yuri Mironov courageously and decisively led his company during combat operations on the front. His professionalism, ability to plan and coordinate the actions of his unit, and effective use of resources allowed for the successful completion of the assigned tasks and the achievement of the goals of the Battalion’s defensive operations.

Special recognition is deserved for his work in organizing mine clearing operations, providing demolition materials and other explosive means, which contributed to the successful advancement of the unit and ensuring the safety of combat operations. His diligence, determination, and dedication to service were a crucial factor in maintaining the combat spirit and readiness of the company.

For outstanding merits in the battle for the Motherland, Yuri Mironov is worthy of wearing the high distinction – the Order of the Red Star.

ANDREY WURTH

For actions in the critical role of Company Sergeant in the preparation and combat operations, Andrey Wurth is awarded the Order of the Red Star. His professionalism and unwavering determination were invaluable during the preparation and execution of combat operations.

Sergeant Wurth actively participated in the organization of cultural and political education within the battalion, making a significant contribution to maintaining high combat spirit and morale of the personnel. He also successfully led training courses for battalion sergeants, ensuring the fulfillment of all tasks with the highest level of professionalism.

Regardless of the complexity of the matter, Andrey Wurth was always accessible to his comrades, ready to provide assistance at any moment. He has proven himself to be a sincere and loyal friend to many members of our battalion again and again.

KATHERINE ORESHKIN

Displaying great skill in planning and organization, Katherine Oreshkin bravely and decisively led the battalion staff, ensuring the combat readiness of the unit amidst complex combat operations. Her insight and high professionalism in assessing the situation and making decisions allowed for effective utilization of the unit’s resources and successful defense of the region.

Special recognition is deserved for her actions as acting Battalion Starshina during the absence of key personnel. In the absence of several commanding staff, Katherine Oreshkin demonstrated high organizational ability and courage, maintaining a high level of combat readiness, discipline, and efficiency within the battalion. Her unwavering leadership spirit and dedication to duty became an important pillar of support for the entire unit during challenging times.

For her excellent merits in the battle for the Motherland, Katherine Oreshkin is worthy of wearing the high distinction – the Order of the Red Star.

DONOVAN GRBIC

On July 10, 1943, on the battlefield, Donovan Grbic demonstrated outstanding skills and initiative in carrying out his duties as Battalion Quartermaster (per Warrior’s orders). Thanks to his organizational talents and expertise, the battalion was properly supplied with all necessary resources, which made a significant contribution to maintaining the combat readiness of the troops in difficult battle conditions.

Moreover, Donovan Grbic was the initiator and leader of the project to create and deploy PTRD anti-tank rifles, which effectively countered the enemy’s tank threat. His leadership and courage at the head of the anti-tank teams made a significant contribution to the defeat of enemy armored vehicles and saved many lives of Soviet soldiers.

For his courage, valor, and contribution in carrying out the duties of Battalion Quartermaster as well as for leading the PTRD group and commanding the anti-tank teams, Donovan Grbic is worthy of being awarded the Order of the Patriotic War.

For conducting cultural and political education courses in the battalion, personal participation in work details, volunteering multiple times to assist with various tasks, and maintaining group morale and purpose at all times, Ernst Schäfer is awarded the Order of the Patriotic War. His dedication and active role in educating his comrades have been invaluable in fulfilling the battalion’s objectives.

Schäfer tirelessly conducted cultural and political education courses, which played a significant role in shaping the battalion’s fighting spirit and patriotic consciousness. Not only did he willingly participate in work weekends, but he also actively helped with various tasks, demonstrating his loyalty and readiness to assist in any situation.

For his outstanding merits and unparalleled service to the Motherland, he is awarded the Order of the Patriotic War.

KATIE GAISSER

For outstanding support as a signals NCO during the planning process and excellent instruction to NCOs on signals, field phone usage, and communications. During the battles of July 1943, you demonstrated agility and dedication in fulfilling your duties as a signalist. Your exceptional support and signaling skills during the planning of important operations, as well as your excellent training of the command personnel, contributed to effective communication and prompt decision-making on the battlefield.

Your ability to correctly use field phones, transmit crucial messages, and establish reliable communication was invaluable in our collective fight against the enemy. You displayed high professionalism and leadership qualities, enhancing the combat readiness of the unit and ensuring continuous communication with the command post.

ALLISON HAYDEN

For your courage and selflessness demonstrated during the battles in the autumn of 1941, you have earned recognition for your invaluable work in the field of medicine. In July 1943, you willingly assumed direct leadership of an engineer platoon in combat conditions. Your sense of responsibility and guidance proved crucial in the successful laying, employment, and safe removal of over 200 highly dangerous mines while being observed by the enemy.

GABE ASH

For running a combat infantry platoon, for personally appearing at the work weekend, for organizing a training NCO section, for teaching the “Squad Defensive Tactics” course, for preparedness in all infantry matters and affairs; above all, for excellence as an NCO.

In July 1943, you commanded a combat infantry platoon. Your personal presence at the work weekend reflects your commitment to service. Your leadership and organizational skills contributed to the successful completion of assigned tasks.

You established and organized a training NCO section, enabling effective training and preparation of our soldiers. Your teaching of the “Squad Defensive Tactics” course is a vital element in enhancing the skills of our fighters.

Your preparedness in all infantry matters and affairs deserves the highest recognition. Your excellence as an NCO serves as a shining example of outstanding performance of your duties.

CARTER BERTONE

Bertone, leading the assault engineer detachment, demonstrated exemplary skill and fearlessness in battle. He heroically fought, fortifying positions and actively countering the enemy. His leadership and command qualities were an inspiration to the other soldiers, and under his command, the detachment displayed outstanding combat effectiveness.

For all his outstanding feats and unparalleled contribution to the defense of the Motherland, Carter Bertone is awarded the Order “For Bravery”.

For outstanding performance in combat as the leader of a detachment of assault engineers during actions defending against overwhelming German forces in the defense of the Oboyan region, Carter Bertone is awarded the Order “For Bravery”. His courageous actions and resolute efforts played a key role in the defense of the Oboyan region against the relentless enemy forces. Bertone, leading the assault engineer detachment, demonstrated exemplary skill and fearlessness in battle. He heroically fought, fortifying positions and actively countering the enemy.

For all his outstanding feats and unparalleled contribution to the defense of the Motherland, Carter Bertone is awarded the Order “For Bravery”.

KAT NARAMORE

For displaying exceptional bravery in battle, where under enemy fire she found, rescued, and provided medical treatment to a wounded reconnaissance sergeant, administering care for real-world second-degree burns, including the proper dressing and maintenance of the wounds. During a subsequent medical emergency, she established order and structure within the medical team and acted as the chief medical officer in the absence of the staff primary.

Kat Naramore, with courage and selflessness, demonstrated unwavering determination and skill in fulfilling her duties as a medical professional on the battlefield. Her decisive actions and professionalism played a vital role in saving lives and restoring the health of injured soldiers.

For all her outstanding achievements and unparalleled service to the Motherland, she is awarded the Order “For Bravery”.

PARKER HANCOCK

For the courage displayed in battle, where he destroyed a fascist halftrack at close range using a satchel charge, despite heavy enemy fire and great personal risk and danger, Parker Hancock is awarded the Order “For Bravery”. His heroic actions will be remembered in history as a shining example of bravery and selflessness.

Hancock fearlessly faced the enemy, risking his own life to eliminate enemy machinery and secure victory. His bravery and determination in the most challenging conditions inspired and motivated his comrades-in-arms.

Parker Hancock became a symbol of courage and self-sacrifice in the fight against fascism. His deeds reflect the spirit of a true hero, willing to sacrifice his own strength and life for the defense of the Motherland.

DRAVIN NARAMORE

For his military valor demonstrated in the battles surrounding the city of Smolensk, Dravin Naramore, who served as the Deputy Commander of the Company, is awarded the Order “For Valor”. Recognizing the lack of discipline and military order during the fierce battles, he took initiative without orders or external prompting and personally transformed unresponsive forces into a resilient fighting force capable of resisting against overwhelming odds.

Dravin Naramore assumed personal responsibility for restoring discipline and combat readiness within the units. Donald Skrobutėnas

Donald Skrobutėnas showed remarkable devotion to duty by providing a jeep and trailer, as well as finding a driver willing to take responsibility for operating these vehicles. His determination and willingness to assist in any necessary way were crucial to the success of the event.

For his exceptional merits and contribution to the overall victory, he is honored with the Order “For Battle Merit”.

For outstanding battle merits demonstrated during actions around July 10, 1943, Ricky Marko is awarded the Medal “For Battle Merits.” He has developed a system for tracking the dates of training maneuvers and their locations. Ricky Marko displayed exceptional initiative and organizational abilities by creating a system that effectively tracked and planned training maneuvers. ZAC WILLIAMS

For excellent research and authorship in the field of military affairs, as well as for planning instrumental to the defense of the Oboyan region, Zac Williams is awarded the Order of the Patriotic War. His works have proved to be a valuable contribution to the development of military science and serve as an indispensable source of information for commanders and soldiers.

Williams has demonstrated exceptional abilities in studying and analyzing military history, allowing him to make a significant contribution to improving the tactics and strategy of our battalion. His works and planning played a key role in the defense of the Oboyan region, ensuring successful resistance against the enemy and the protection of our Motherland.

Zac Williams deserves the highest praise and recognition for his profound understanding of military affairs and active participation in ensuring the security of our homeland. His research and planning serve as an example of dedication to service and the pursuit of achieving high results.

EMILIA BRAUN

By awarding Emilia Braun with the “For Military Merit” order, we recognize and acknowledge her diligent efforts and personal contribution that she demonstrated in the organization of a social event gathering all subordinate members of our collective. Emilia meticulously and with deep dedication worked out all the details of planning, ensuring the flawless execution of the event.

Her enthusiasm and persistence, shown during the leadership of numerous training sessions, became an example for all of us. Emilia steadfastly and consistently led us through multiple training sessions, instilling discipline and increasing our readiness for the upcoming event. No obstacle proved insurmountable for her, and each of us felt the strength and resolve that she instilled.

For these merits and her unwavering service to our collective, we proudly award Emilia Braun with the “For Military Merit” order.

ALEX ASH

In fulfilling exceptional service duty and loyalty to the Motherland, comrade Alex Ash made a significant contribution to preparing the battalion for defensive operations in the Oboyan region, Kursk Oblast. His invaluable role as the Battalion Supply Sergeant ensured timely and full replacement of battalion transportation assets, which was extremely important for the successful accomplishment of the tasks at hand.

Thanks to Sergeant Ash, the battalion received quality tentage, sufficient water supply, and all necessary resources for a proper defense. His ability to competently organize work, manage, and coordinate his responsibilities allowed the soldiers of the battalion to focus on fulfilling their primary mission.

This feat of comrade Ash demonstrated an unparalleled dedication to his duty and became a shining example of a Red Army Man fulfilling his responsibilities. His unyielding spirit and selfless work deserve the highest recognition and respect.

DALE WINDHORST

For the skillful and continuous organization of battalion transportation over a period of two years. This vital provision ensured the uninterrupted performance of combat tasks and maintained the morale of the military collective. His serious approach to service and his conscientious attitude to tasks of internal support became a bright example for all soldiers of the battalion.

As the chief surgeon of the battalion during the same period, he provided professional medical assistance to the soldiers and was a reliable and thoughtful physician, protecting the health and combat ability of every soldier. He took care of decent placement of medical staff and patients, despite the difficulties of military conditions.

Furthermore, he served as an outstanding mentor for the soldiers of the battalion. His ability to pass on his experience and knowledge, as well as his unwavering belief in the ideals of our Great Country, inspired everyone who served under his command. His leadership qualities and selfless service were highly valued by all soldiers of the battalion.

MAX SCHMIDT

In the active display of courage and valor shown during the defensive battles on the southern outskirts of Oboyan, Comrade Max Schmidt deserves special mention. Leading an operational group of combat engineers, he fearlessly and resolutely contributed to the steadfastness of our defensive positions, thereby earning the undisputed respect and recognition of his comrades-inarms.

Demonstrating excellent leadership qualities, Comrade Schmidt conducted training and preparation for a large number of non-commissioned officers, instilling in them a desire for continuous professional growth and strengthening the combat fraternal solidarity.

Thanks to his continuous efforts in maintaining open and effective communication channels, Comrade Schmidt facilitated the unimpeded exchange of information, ensuring the coordination and effectiveness of our combat actions. His invaluable contribution to the improvement of the communication system reflects his extraordinary dedication to service and confidence in our common victorious outcome.

KAT NARAMORE

For her outstanding contribution to medical planning and support during defensive operations to the southeast of Oboyan, Comrade Kat Naramore deserves special recognition. Her tireless efforts in providing healthcare on the battlefield contributed to preserving the lives and combat capability of our fighters in situations where every second counts.

Persistently and fearlessly participating in the fiercest battles right in the face of the enemy, Comrade Naramore provided invaluable assistance and support in maintaining the combat readiness of our warriors. Her unwavering will and courage influenced the fighting spirit of the entire unit, inspiring our soldiers to act bravely in the struggle against the enemy.

Working in the most challenging conditions, Comrade Naramore demonstrated high professionalism and unwavering devotion to duty. Her invaluable contribution to preserving the health and lives of our warriors serves as a testament to her profound humanity and heroism, reflecting the true spirit of the Patriotic War.

ETHAN TOYE

For invaluable services to the Motherland, demonstrated in the performance of tasks related to mining and engineering support, as well as for the heroic actions committed on July 10, 1943. Despite all difficulties, Ethan Toye successfully organized and executed crucial tasks. Through the dissemination of leaflets and brochures, reminiscent of the modern “web articles,” he ensured the transmission of critically important information, thereby enhancing the effectiveness of our military formation.

Under his leadership, a platoon of combat engineers successfully installed all necessary barriers as part of defensive actions in the Oboyan area. Comrade Colchin was the foundation upon which an entire platoon of submachine gunners performed their duties. He directly exposed himself to enemy fire multiple times and aggressively led his men to seize the village of Targu Frumos. He insisted on strict discipline, and his unit was well dug in on the evening of April 12, 1944.

The following morning, as fascist forces subjected his men to repeated infantry and armor attacks, he continued to inspire his men. He was also forced to personally defend himself from enemy assaulting troops. He led his unit to act as a company reserve and repel final fascist attacks in the afternoon of April 13, 1944.

Repeatedly repulsed fierce enemy attacks by the use of rifle fire and grenades, even in the face of severe personal risk.
